Board Meeting Minutes – April 15, 2008

Meeting called to order 5:04pm
New Board Business
- Nancy Mariani updated the board on happenings at Incredible Ice. We were informed that Coach Jennifer Houghton was terminated due to unethical practices. Members of the board assured Nancy that the members are in support of Incredible Ice during this misfortune. Nancy stated that Kimmie Meissner will return and continue to work with Richard Callaghan possibly until the 2010 Olympics. She is expected back the 3rd week of May. At this point Nancy mentioned several possibilities of different ice times and ability levels for these sessions. More is to be determined. There may be several high levels sessions and the board suggested some middle level sessions as there are a lot of skaters that are at this level. Nancy invited the board members to the June 2nd Ground Breaking Ceremony for the 3rd sheet of ice.
- A suggestion was made for a brochure to be designed and made showing and telling about the Panthers Figure Skating Club. Size will be the same as the Incredible Ice brochure so it can be placed in the holders at the front office and around the facility. The brochure will state was advantages members who belong to the club have and our goals and future for the club.
- Discussion on the making of a new website for the Panthers Figure Skating Club was determined to be necessary and in great need to produce a site that is useful with information relating to club activities and events. Nancy suggested we use the same web designer that Incredible Ice used so that it would be easy to have both sites linked and updated as needed. Nancy will contact the web designer and try to set a meeting.
- State Games is the weekend of May 14th. Incredible Ice is ready and Florida Sports. Panthers Figure Skating Club will sponsor a Coaches Room with food. Incredible Ice Guest Services will man this room and PFSC will pay for their services. Food items suggested were wraps and soup from Roly Poly and possibly items from Panera such as bagels etc. More to be determined at May 7th meeting.
- Lori Kenner is to get out the paperwork for the May 21st Annual Meeting. Nominating committee was established of Betty Stark, Dave Thompson and Marie Iribarren. They will nominate 3 people for open board positions of Susan Serota, Nancy Mariani, and Charlotte Schermerhorn and will let Lori Kenner know to include in Annual nomination letter.
- Discussion of Theme for annual Holiday show will be decided at the next meeting on May 7th. Lori Kenner will forward to board members the themes that have been submitted for consideration. Nancy Mariani stated the following as previous show themes as to not to repeat and try to get a fresh theme. Past themes were Olympics, Broadway, Holiday Celebration, Music through the ages, Celebration on Ice, and Academy Awards. Winner of theme will be announced at the Annual Meeting.
- Next test session was announced for May 7th.
Meeting was called at 6:30pm.
Next board meeting November 28 at 5:45pm just to discuss the holiday show.
Following regular board meeting will be following the test session on December 12.
