Board Meeting Minutes – September 24, 2008

Meeting called to order 5:50pm
- Melissa introduced Denise Whittey from the Florida Panthers Foundation. We are going to work together to raise money for the Foundation and get exposure for the PFSC. Their three main events are Oct 7 at Woodfield Country Club, Jan 12 Golf Classic and Feb 20 the “Ice n Dice”. October 22 they are having a roundtable with 25 people who are heads of organizations. They have a roundtable with different people each month. Their main charities are Joe DiMaggio, Make a Wish Foundation and JAFCO. We will partner with them for the Dec 3 Holiday Show by asking for Toys for Tots to be dropped off at the event. They will promote the event on radio 790. Melissa was asked to make a flyer for Denise to bring to her events. Denise will get us email contacts for participants within the foundation.
New Board Business
- Nancy and Dave discussed getting the sanction for skaters during Panthers game. Next test session Nov 5. Board meeting will follow. Additional test session will be Dec 10th. *Holiday Show: Melissa presented the 1st draft of the Holiday Show flyer. We must have the Bank Atlantic Center on it. Naming the show the Incredible Ice Show or Holiday Show. Must say sanctioned by US Figure Skating. Spotlight Todd Eldredge, Kimmie Meissner and Lesley Doherty. Discussing price for tickets. Cost of $20.00 and members will have an opportunity to purchase up to 6 for $15.00 each. When tickets arrive we will publish the exact time frame. Credit card machine needs to be available at Bank Atlantic Center for ticket sales day of show. Melissa will create an email and Lori will send it as a blast. Band from Sawgrass Springs Middle School will be invited. Board meeting/Holiday Show Committee meeting 10/22 5pm. *Regional Skaters will do exhibition Oct 3 from 4:30-6:30pm. Club will pay for one hour and rink is donating one hour. Gifts for Regional Skaters will be make up (toiletry) bags and presented after they skate.
Reports
- Treasury – Club is solid—Money in account.
- Social – Banquet was awesome. Kudos to Marie. Halloween Party 10/24. Ticket price $5.00 each. There will be skating and dinner. Skating is for Club Members only. Family members are welcome for the costume and dinner party. Volunteers are in place and will work with Martine. Board members will pay for their children.
